Transparent Nigeria is awakening from its slumber to highlight the strong work of Okechukwu (Oke) Iweala and the OKE, Peace, Love & Light Foundation for the start of 2017. The Foundation is raising money to renovate and rehabilitate the Karonmajigi Primary School in Abuja, Nigeria.

We all know the statistics - Nigeria's literacy rate amongst youth aged 15-24 is just 59.6%, a number that drops to 49.7% when focusing on girls alone. This alone may be a cause of despair, but as Nigerians, we alone have the power to change our situation. This is a fact that Oke knows well and has internalized by devoting resources and energy to make the Karonmajigi Primary School a more hospitable learning environment by simple improvements such as: installing a bore hole, building toilets with functioning plumbing, and repairing the broken school building ceilings and floors.

The Foundation is raising $10,500 to finish the school renovations by the end of Q1 2017. You can find more by going to the indiegogo project that we started to help him reach his goal. Go and donate now!

We have to support our Young NIgerians who are Giving Back!
